The clip essentially catches audiences up on where Vi has been ever since the events of the first season finale. Though she’s expected to have kept connected with Caitlyn, it does look like she’s laying low, taking on underground fights for money and drinking herself to that.

Besides that, she’s getting flashbacks of all the people who she’s running away from. Besides Caitlyn, she’s also getting flashes of Jinx showing up. After all, it was just a tragic turn of events that led to Vi being the one responsible for Powder becoming Jinx.

I’ll admit, the music can get a bit too edgy for my taste, but it’s exactly on-brand when it comes to a series like Arcane. The point is just really pushed when Vi goes full goth with the black hair and eye make-up.

So far, the series still looks amazing, and though it’s a shame that it’s going to be the final season, it has been confirmed that Riot plans to continue exploring the world with different characters in other spinoff shows. Let’s just hope the quality remains the same.

Act 1 of Arcane Season 2 drops on Nov. 9, Act 2 comes out Nov. 16, and the final act releases Nov. 23 all on Netflix.

As per the official announcement Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, Spider-Man) has been cast as Crocodile. This also comes with the reveal that Nico Robin/Miss All Sunday has been cast with Lera Abova. Check this out:

For context, both Mr. 0 and Miss All Sunday are Devil Fruit users; 0 has the power to control sand (so basically he’s Gaara from Naruto), but All Sunday’s powers are more unique. In the manga, Nico Robin consumed the Flower-Flower Fruit, and it allows her to ‘bloom’ her limbs from wherever—her body, another person’s body, or inanimate objects. It definitely makes for one of the more visually unique powers on the show.

Going back to Manganiello though, he’s known to be a huge nerd offscreen, and it’s going to be great to see him actually join an anime-based series that isn’t so shy of being cartoonish. Besides, he definitely has the height for it, and you just know he’s going to have that screen presence.

As for Nico Robin, she’s definitely a huge character for the series, seeing as she joins the Straw Hats down the line. We don’t know if she’ll eventually do that by the end of the season, but the series has been known to make changes here and there.

No release date has been set for the second season of One Piece, but hopefully it will be ready on Netflix by 2025.

With the successful release of the game’s sequel Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, it has been confirmed that the next game featuring Cal Kestis will be the final one to close the franchise. During EA’s Investor Day 2024 presentation (via GameSpot), it was confirmed that the story of Cal and the crew of the Mantis is set to close with the third and final game. EA president of entertainment and technology Laura Miele said about the Jedi games:

“We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all-time, with over $5 billion in net bookings… This impressive track record includes of course the Star Wars ‘Jedi’ games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi. Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”

The series had started out originally with Cal Kestis being a Jedi on the run, but by the time of the sequel Survivor, he is a full-fledged rebel, complete with a new fighting style that brings together saber and blaster combat.

Thought Fallen Order had introduced the foundations of the Jedi games, Survivor had improved upon it, adding more saber fighting forms from the dual lightsaber wield to the heavy crossguard saber.

It’s unclear how a third game would be able to switch things up, but I had always hoped that the player would be able to control other characters in Cal’s crew, similar to how the player can also control Atreus in God of War besides Kratos. Can’t Merrin be the square button this time?

A third Star Wars Jedi game hasn’t been officially announced.

As per the official announcement Miya Cech has been cast as Toph for the live-action ATLA series. Here’s the post:

There hasn’t been any reveal of Cech in costume, but seeing as how the series has managed to bring the original costumes from the show into live-action, they would probably stick very close to Toph’s animated look.

With Aang learning Earthbending being one of the central goals of Book 2, Toph joins the team as Aang’s Earthbending master. Though teachers like Katara are more warm and understanding of Aang, Toph is different in that she’s a bit of a rough-and-tumble rebel,  and she has no qualms about being rude or messy.

When the gang actually meets her, she’s a secret fighter in the Earthbending equivalent of pro-wrestling. Check this out:

As it stands, Toph is a fan-favorite, and she becomes a permanent member of the gang once she’s introduced. We don’t know if they plan to tweak her character for the series, but she’s pretty well-realized in the show.

I just hope they find out something to do with Aang’s character, because his fun-loving goofy side has been thrown out the window in the first season just to have him be broody and guilty over letting everyone down as the Avatar. Let the kid have fun, Netflix!

No release date has been set for the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but you can watch the first book on Netflix now.

As it turns out, the toning down of the gay themes didn’t just stop at Pixar. Following the reveal of Disney’s gay gatekeeping, X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo also revealed that he was asked to tone down some suggestive scenes for his hit show.

He posted:

What’s interesting about the thread is that DeMayo also goes into detail about the changes that were asked of him while they were making the show. As it turns out, Magneto was supposed to be naked when he was being tortured by Bastion in the latter part of the season, and it was Marvel’s idea to put him in briefs.

DeMayo also goes on to talk about some executives misinterpreting scenes between Xavier and Magneto. He replies to someone saying Disney doesn’t have a responsibility to comment on social issues, “True, but when they start misinterpreting two males exchanging a look of brotherly solidarity before battle as “too gay” and one execs favorite word “creepy,” there’s an issue.”

Despite Marvel gayblocking X-Men ’97, the show still managed to get a lot of queer messaging in the final product. The allegory of discrimination was still very prevalent, and the scene where Charles saves Magento was still pretty gay despite Disney asking to tone it down.

Let’s also not forget Magneto’s official costume which everyone also thought was gay as hell:

Beau DeMayo may no longer be involved with Marvel, but you can check out his X-Men ’97 now streaming on Disney+.

The official synopsis reads:

Brothers tells the story of a reformed criminal (Josh Brolin) whose attempt at going straight is derailed when he reunites with his sanity-testing twin brother (Peter Dinklage) on a cross-country road trip for the score of a lifetime. Dodging bullets, the law, and an overbearing mother along the way, they must heal their severed family bond before they end up killing each other.

Besides Dinklage and Brolin, the movie also includes performances from award winners Brendan Fraser, Marisa Tomei, and Glenn Close. The movie is also directed by Max Barbakow, who had done some fantastic work with the subverting of the Groundhog Day genre with Palm Springs.

I have to admit, Brolin has been kind of stereotyped into these hyper-serious grump characters, so it’s great to see him actually play against type and be the ‘stupid muscle’ of a crime duo. As for Dinklage, he hasn’t landed anything as big as Tyrion Lannister since Game of Thrones ended, but he’s managed to stick to non-stereotypical roles for little people, and you love to see it.

With a great cast and an interesting director, Brothers is looking to be an interesting comedy coming out amid the Halloween season. I wonder if there’s going to be any reference to Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

With Joker: Folie a Deux said to be more of a musical than the first movie, it’s been described as a ‘jukebox musical’ featuring covers of pre-existing songs that will all play a significant part in the telling of this new origin of this Joker and Harley.

While the toxic romance of Joker and Harley Quinn has been explored time and again in television, movies, and comics, Folie a Deux looks to be changing the formula this time around. Whereas Harley was originally a psychiatrist that Joker duped into falling in love with him; this version of “Lee” is also a fellow mental patient of Arthur Fleck.

It’s also worth noting that Joker and Harley’s romance was always portrayed as toxic, with Harley’s main arc consisting of her respecting herself and leaving Joker; but this time, it does seem that both are supportive and dependent on each other, and it’s kind of hinted in the previews that it’s Harley who will actually be pulling the strings of Arthur—who just happens to be the symbol he didn’t know he was going to be.

I’m just hoping this all builds up to a third movie with Joker and Batman, but we’re just going to have to wait and see.

Catch Joker: Folie a Deux when it hits cinemas on Oct. 4.

The series is said to run for six episodes at a half hour each, and will focus on a Zeon pilot who has been tasked to defend the European front against the Earth Federation forces.

This will be the first fully CG Gundam production since the Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO OVAs from the 2000s, and will making use of Unreal Engine 5 to bring the graphics to life. It’s worth noting that the director Erasmus Brosdau, had worked on the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness games, and the story comes from Gavin Hignight who also worked on Tekken: Bloodline and Sony’s Spider-Man game.

Going back to the clip though, it’s very interesting how the visuals really bring the world of the Universal Century to light. After all, war has always been one of the central themes of the Gundam franchise, and its dark realism is what sets it apart from other giant mecha anime like Gurren Lagann. Even other Gundam series like Witch from Mercury don’t have that same WWII vibe that is core to Universal Century storytelling.

I’ll admit, some of the facial animation is iffy, but the execution of the vibe and visuals make this one worth checking out.

Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance is set to hit Netflix on Oct. 17.

As it turns out, it was Culkin’s troubled home life after he got famous that influenced Columbus to change their approach when it came time to cast someone as Harry Potter. Talking to Demi Lovato’s documentary Child Star (via EW), Columbus explains how they made the mistake of not looking into the Culkin family before they launched Macaulay into mega-stardom.

Columbus said:

“Once we wrapped, I didn’t know what was going on [with Culkin… We didn’t know that much about the [Culkin] family at the beginning; as we were shooting, we learned a little more. The stories are hair-raising. I was casting a kid who truly had a troubled family life.”

After his success with Home Alone, Macaulay Culkin’s personal life had started to slowly unravel to the public, with reports of his substance abuse, and his messy relationship with his father and then-manager Kit Culkin. Word was going around about Kit being abusive and even threatening Macaulay while he was working.

There’s also the case of the parents fighting for custody and control over the $50 million fortune that Macaulay had amassed.

With Columbus predicting that the fame that the Potter franchise would bring would come with intense pressure, they made sure to vet the parents of the actors as well to make sure that they were going to provide a stable home for the kids off camera.

“Suddenly, I realized that parents had to be a big part of it. I can’t have [an actor] go home to a really sort of shaky environment for the sake of a film. It’s not worth it. It was as important to cast the parents as it was to cast the kids,” said Columbus

For now Culkin still makes small appearances on TV here and there, but his situation (and the situation of many other child actors) has influenced changes in policy that put in place safeguards for kids who become child stars and start earning the money for the family.

In the meantime, casting for the new Harry is underway, and production is expected to start sometime next year.

As it turns out, the movie is going to come out at the start of 2025, and a new trailer has been dropped with Pattinson being the quirky character actor that he is. Check this out:

From the Academy Award-winning writer/director of “Parasite,” Bong Joon Ho, comes his next groundbreaking cinematic experience, “Mickey 17.” The unlikely hero, Mickey Barnes (Robert Pattinson) has found himself in the extraordinary circumstance of working for an employer who demands the ultimate commitment to the job… to die, for a living.

Like with any of Bong’s Hollywood films, Mickey 17 has also managed to nab a star-studded cast. Besides Pattinson, the film also stars Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette.

It’s also worth noting that the movie is actually based on a book called Mickey 7 by Edward Ashton. It was said that the number was upped to 17 to really push the point that Mickey was that expendable that he would have to be cloned that many times.

I have said before that the plot sounds pretty similar to Moon starring Sam Rockwell and directed by Duncan Jones, but based on what we see in the trailer, the production value is definitely way up, and the movie is really leaning into the comedy element.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget that signature class critique that’s always present in a Bong Joon-ho film.

Admittedly, Hahn was more of a recurring character on the series, but the main cast members were able to get a photo of just the three of them:

When it comes to the four cast members, it is worth noting that Plaza has spent her time the longest with Marvel, as she had been cast in FX’s Legion series even way before the Fox merger. Hahn has been onboard since WandaVision, and Scott was cast as Ben Parker (not officially) in Sony’s Madame Web.

Let’s also not forget that one of Marvel’s biggest stars, Chris Pratt, was in Parks and Recreation as the loveable idiot Andy Dwyer before he became Star-Lord:

So far, Poehler is the only one in the mini-reunion who hasn’t jumped the Marvel ship, but she’s doing pretty well being the voice of Joy in Pixar’s hit franchise Inside Out. I wouldn’t mind if they cast her as a Captain Marvel variant because she can definitely be Brie Larson’s older sister.

For now, fans are waiting to see just how Agatha All Along pans out. It definitely is embracing its camp and attuning to its intended audience, but there’s always a chance some ‘anti-woke’ fans will review-bomb it to hell.

Let’s hope the gays won’t let that happen.

Agatha All Along premieres on Disney+ this week.

Though the company is known for pushing a more progressive message to audiences though, some ex-Pixar employees have opened up about how the studio has been very anti-LGBTQ+ behind-the-scenes.

Talking to IGN, some former Pixar employees (who will remain anonymous) have opened up about the poor practices at the animation studio, and one particular anecdote talked about how some Disney leadership were trying to get them to tone down the LGBTQ+ representation in their films.

Lightyear was not the success that the studio was hoping it was going to be, and apparently its financial failure is being attributed by some heads to the same-sex kiss that happens in the film. The scene was briefly removed, but was then returned after an uproar from the internal staff. The source says:

“It is, as far as I know, still a thing, where leadership, they’ll bring up Lightyear specifically and say, ‘Oh, Lightyear was a financial failure because it had a queer kiss in it,’… That’s not the reason the movie failed.”

Inside Out 2 was also a financial success this year at the box office, but behind-the-scenes, a lot of work was said to be done to make the lead character of Riley seem ‘less gay.’ Apparently, there were numerous edits done between the scenes of Riley and new character Val so that they would seem ‘platonic as possible.’ One source had said about the changes that what they were asked to do was “just doing a lot of extra work to make sure that no one would potentially see them as not straight.”

The anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment is just one of the numerous bombshells that these frustrated artists have revealed in the article, and multiple people online are apparently not surprised that a huge company like Disney would like to seem progressive, but is actually working hard to make their products seem as audience friendly as possible. As Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch put it:

With the Vision series apparently still in the works, we have a few details of what possibly to expect with the show. According to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, the show could very much be a reversal of the formula of WandaVision. Here’s what they said:

“The way it’s been explained to me: a reverse WandaVision. In WandaVision, the main focus of the show was Wanda trying to find a way to cope with her situation by trying to escape her role as the Scarlet Witch, her reality and live a fantasy before ultimately coming to terms with it.

“This time around, Vision wants to dive deeper into his origins and his reality from the get-go to fill the gaps in his memory, and then it’ll progress more fantastical as the show progresses.”

The series is also said to be bringing back Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron, and while Perez doesn’t really give any info on the details of his return, it’s said that the plan was always to get James Spader back to portray him. Perez also confirms that there are no plans for Ultron beyond Avengers: Secret Wars… yet.

There also hasn’t been any official word on whether Wanda is going to come back for the Vision series, but seeing as Marvel Studios has been touting the two as these doomed lovers, it would make sense for Wanda to show up in the Vision series in some capacity.

With three years of no updates on the series, it’s understandable that fans may not be too interested in knowing what happened to White Vision, but the promise of a return from Ultron—who absolutely ate up every scene he was in back in Avengers 2—fans could be tuning in just to see how Marvel could possibly redeem the character outside of the What If…? animation.

No release date has been announced for the Vision series.

With Dune: Messiah being officially greenlit by Warner Bros., it looks like the third film is going to see more of Irulan and another supporting role from the movie.

Talking to Vanity Fair (via @FilmUpdates), Villeneuve has confirmed that Princess Irulan and Alia Atreides (Anya Taylor-Joy) are going to be “prominent” roles in Dune: Messiah. No further details have been revealed about the parts, but Villeneuve does say about the status of the third film:

“First, it’s important that people understand that for me, [the first two movies were] really a diptych… It was really a pair of movies that will be the adaptation of the first book. That’s done and that’s finished. If I do a third one, which is in the writing process, it’s not like a trilogy. It’s strange to say that, but if I go back there, it’s to do something that feels different and has its own identity.”

For context, Part Two did end with the dark tease that an intergalactic Jihad was going to happen—just like in Paul’s vision—and the Fremen would be invading worlds and slaughtering others in Paul’s name. Though Paul had gained the power to avenge his family, the price would be the holy war where millions would be killed.

Though Irulan had been documenting Paul’s rise to power, Alia (at least, the grown up version) had only shown up in a dream sequence to Paul, saying:

“Now that you have seen out past, you can see out future. My brother, my dearest brother, you are not prepared for what is to come. You’ll now learn the truth about our family, and it will hurt you to the core. Paul, don’t worry. I’m with you. I love you.”

With Paul having lost himself by the end of the movie, it’s going to be interesting to see how Villeneuve treats the character and everyone around him moving forward. Until they make some reveals, we’re just going to have to wait and see.

As of now, Dune: Messiah is yet to receive a release date.

For this iteration of the character, she’s actually named Lee Quinzel, and rather than being the Joker’s psychiatrist, she’s a fellow patient of Arkham. Now a new featurette has been dropped giving us a better look at Lee brought to life by none other than Lady Gaga. Check it:

“She easily slipped into that world,” says director Todd Phillips, “It’s not like she’s trying to be Harley Quinn from the comic books. She’s Lee in this world.”

With Joker establishing a new take on the origin of the character, fans are also expecting a fresh iteration of Harley for this movie. Though it’s been well-established in previous properties that Harley and Joker are a toxic couple, and Harley is essentially the Joker’s doormat, it’s possible that Folie a Deux could do something different with the relationship.

Maybe Harley is inspired by the Joker, but she ultimately ends up becoming more fierce than him? At this point in the story, it just doesn’t seem like Arthur could be the same Joker that we’ve seen Mark Hamill or Heath Ledger’s versions have been. But who knows, maybe the movie could build up to it, now that he’s trapped in Arkham and there’s no other way to let out the crazy.

I’m just hoping we get a greenlight for a third movie where Joker actually has to take on his version of Batman—which a lot of people know is Joker’s real true love.

If the trailer didn’t get you hyped enough for the film, a new clip has been released for the movie which features some of its biggest stars including Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka) and Kate Micucci (of Garfunkel and Oates fame). Check this out:

Writer-director Kevin Smith presents his most personal film to date with this coming-of-age story — set in the summer of 1986 — that follows three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local cineplex. When one of the guys invites the girl of his dreams to see an R-rated film, all hilarity breaks loose, as a self-important theater manager (Ken Jeong) and teen rivalries interfere with his best-laid plans.

Besides Dawson and Micucci, the film has also been able to gather a bunch of Smith’s celebrity friends including Justin Long, Jason Lee, and Jason Biggs. Fingers crossed that Ben Affleck makes a small cameo.

Admittedly, Smith is in kind of a nostalgia phase right now, having produced a revival of an ‘80s property with Netflix’s Masters of the Universe, but I am a fan of his more personal films, and it does look like The 4:30 Movie is an ode to his youth growing up in the 80s.

So far the humor looks fun, and with Smith you can always expect some Tarantino-level quickfire dialogue.

Rings of Power had been met with aggressively negative ‘fans’ online who have started attacking the show for ‘wokeness’ ever since it was announced that Galadriel was the lead, but showrunner J.D. Payne is actually fine with the haters and is actually ‘happy’ that they’re writing about the show.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter Payne explains:

“… When we see that millions of people are watching this and responding so positively to it — that’s who we’re fighting for. And those who watch every episode and [negatively] write about it on social media and make YouTube videos, we’re happy to have you guys, too. It wouldn’t be a journey through Middle-earth without some trolls along the way.”

Admittedly, what fans of the show are worried about is that the negativity surrounding the series will push people away from checking out Rings of Power, and that could lead to the series’ cancellation before the story gets completed.

With Rings of Power though, it’s said that Amazon is committed to delivering five planned seasons for the show. It does help that a rumor suggests that Jeff Bezos is a Lord of the Rings fan, which means TROP is going to have a budget regardless of what the audience numbers are going to be.

Despite negative fans, there have also been some positive buzz around the show, and this would probably find its way soon to the audience that Rings of Power is looking to grow. Personally I love the series, and I think every character in it, new and familiar, is fantastic and really captures the vibe of the original Peter Jackson movies.

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

While there are a bunch of symbiotes on Earth for Venom and Eddie to deal with already, the trailer gives the first glimpse of Knull, the creator of the symbiotes. With the way that the trailer is cut, it does seem that Knull is free, and the symbiotes me have ended up on Earth just trying to get away from him.

Relatively Knull is a new character created back in the 2010s, but he has a very interesting origin with him being a ridiculously ancient being—he existed before the universe did, and he also has the power to kill Celestials.

Some think that Knull is merely going to be teased in this movie and is going to be Sony’s “Thanos-level” threat which the spinoff villains–Morbius, Kraven, Venom, and Madame Web—have to fend off. It sounds kind of silly, but everything Sony has been doing has been questionable so far; so they having their own kind of Spider-Avengers team-up is really not too far off from what we’ve gotten before.

Watch out for Venom: The Last Dance when it comes out in theatres on Oct. 25.

Despite the supposed ‘terrible’ series getting constantly bashed online, it does seem that Amazon is set on completing the story that the series is trying to tell. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third season for Rings of Power has been in development for a while, and Amazon is apparently remaining ‘committed to the show’s original five-season plan.’

It’s not exactly clear what we should expect from all five seasons, but fans have guessed that each season of the show is going to focus on the creation of specific Rings of Power. The first season was for the elven rings, then this second will be on the seven made for the dwarves,  the third will be for the nine forged for men, the fourth could be focused on the forging of just the One Ring, and the final season could build up to the war where Sauron is defeated.

Admittedly, it has been confirmed in a trailer that Sauron demands for ‘The Nine’ which fans can only assume are the Rings, but there will have to be a story about how he manipulates these rings into the hands of Men, and we should also expect to watch them all get slowly corrupted.

Despite the active negativity online, Rings of Power has been getting positive buzz here and there. The series definitely does its homework when it comes to Tolkien, and treatment for characters like Tom Bombadil have been praised online.

According to The InSneider (via @HollywoodHandle), Jared Leto (Morbius, Suicide Squad) has been offered the part of Skeletor, He-Man’s nemesis. No details have been revealed about the role, but with a franchise like He-Man, you can usually just expect Skeletor to be evil, have a lair full of henchmen, and have grandiose plans in taking over Eternia.

It’s worth noting that Travis Knight is at the helm of this movie, and he had brought another 80s franchise to the big screen with Bumblebee. Admittedly, that movie didn’t have the best story, but it still managed to reboot the Transformers timeline, and it established a new look for the Robots in Disguise.

When it comes to Masters of the Universe though, a live-action adaptation could be tricky. After all, most of its fans are adults in their 40s, and that comes with the price of having an over-critical fanbase whenever something is changed for an adaptation. Just look at what happened to Netflix’s animated revival of MOTU from Kevin Smith.

If anything, the movie should focus on being a jumping off point for kids in the franchise. After the success of Barbie, maybe He-Man could be Mattel’s next moneymaking movie. I know I’m just excited to see what kinds of toys are going to be released alongside the film.
