While Ewan McGregor may be promoting the release of Doctor Sleep, a lot of people are more curious about his return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a limited Disney+ series. Talking to Men’s Journal, McGregor talks about his new approach to the character, and some few details on where the story takes place in the timeline.

McGregor admits that he hasn’t watched any of his Star Wars film lately, and though he will, he says, he’s going to try a different approach this time around. He says, “I want to get closer and closer to how Obi-Wan felt while Alec Guinness was playing him. I feel like I’m grayer and nearer him in age, so it’ll be easier to do that.”

Though Guinness’ Obi-Wan is old and wise, McGregor’s younger version is kind of proper, but impeccably sarcastic. Even if the consensus of the fans at the time were to hate the prequels, there’s a newfound love for Obi-Wan, and a lot of people are excited for McGregor’s return onscreen.

As for the timeline, it’s been confirmed that the story will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. McGregor explains:

“The storyline sits between Episode III and Episode IV… the Jedi Order was falling apart. It will be interesting to take a character we know in a way and show him—Well, his arc will be quite interesting, I think, dealing with that the fact that all the Jedi were slaughtered with the end of Episode III. It’s quite something to get over.”

No release date has been set for the Kenobi series, but you can catch McGregor in Doctor Sleep which comes out Nov. 8.
