Everyone was excited to see what was in store for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but some unfortunate scandals last year resulted in him getting fired from the project. Some fans have been bouncing off on Twitter who should take over as director, and Edgar Wright gives his suggestion—hire back James Gunn.

Check this out:

The post had also suggested Phil Lord and Chris Miller to take over the job to which Miller replied to Wright:

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Wright would take the side of Gunn seeing that Wright himself has also been fired from an MCU project. Originally, he was supposed to direct Ant-Man, but due to creative differences, he opted to leave the project with Peyton Reed taking over. Until now he admits never to have seen the film and compares it to “watching your ex-girlfriend have sex.”

For now, the director search for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 still continues. Rumors had come out that Adam McKay was courted to direct by Marvel, but it looks like he refused. I’m just here hoping that Marvel is just waiting for the issue to be completely forgotten, and they’ll just hire Gunn back. He did some fantastic work with the first two movies, I’m sure a lot of people will take issue if someone else takes over for Vol. 3.

No release date has been set for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
