Anticipation a week before the release of Warner Bros’ Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is at an all-time high. Fans are eagerly awaiting the latest instalment of the Harry Potter franchise; however, we’re still waiting for the first reviews and reactions to drop online. But if this news is any indication it seems Warner Bros. is very happy with the movie and is pleased with the work that five-time Potter director David Yates has done. After previously directing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Half-Blood Prince, The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, The Hollywood Reporter is stating that Yates will return to direct the next four instalments in the franchise.

Speaking to THR at the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them World Premiere, Yates stated:

“I love making films, and I’ve got a great team, all of whom are like family. I only look at it movie to movie.”

It seems David Yates has fallen back into this franchise by accident as Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Cuaron was originally attached to the new spin-off movie early in development before dropping out. It also seemed that Yates was hoping to get away from Potter by helming Warner Bros. The Legend of Tarzan earlier this year, but sequel plans were abandoned after the movie under-performed both critically and financially.

The currently untitled sequel to Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will take place in France and England. It’s set to follow a younger Dumbledore, showing how he developed his rivalry with the dark wizard Grindelwald, played by Johnny Depp. When asked about her thoughts on the future of the franchise, the franchise author and new movie screenwriter J.K. Rowling optimistically responded:

“I’m never complacent. I’m always feeling like I gotta do my best work, and I’m always pretty hard on myself. We’ve set ourselves an ambitious story to tell in five movies, but it’s going to be challenging and exciting; all the things I like.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them opens November 18th and the untitled sequel will drop in November 2018.
