Daisy Ridley Teases Plot for Her Star Wars Return

Daisy Ridley was the lead of the Sequel Trilogy, but after the poor reception of The Rise of Skywalker, it does seem that Lucasfilm has been very quiet about that era—though it did feel like it was the beginning of a whole new slate of adventures.

With Ridley having been announced to return for a new Star Wars film, she has been teasing the story for the upcoming movie which is being written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. Talking to Collider, Ridley confirms:

I’m very excited. The story is really cool. I’m waiting to read a script because, obviously, I don’t have any other updates. It’s not what I expected, but I’m very excited.”

We don’t know exactly what story to expect from Ridley’s next Star Wars, but a lot of fans know that there have been a switch from multiple directors and writers during development. Before Knight signed on to write the project, the story was said to have been being tackled by Damon Lindelof (HBO’s Watchmen, The Leftovers), and even before that fans thought Ridley would be the one to star in Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron.

So far, Ridley has been the only confirmed Sequel Trilogy actress to return, but a lot of fans are hopeful that they manage to bring back other leads like Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, and Kelly Marie Tran.

With Lucasfilm essentially burying The Rise of Skywalker with minimal promotions and merchandise, some fans think that this return could be a kind of remedy for the poor reception of TROS, but on the other hand, it would probably be easier to just move along and have Rey going on an original adventure without any of the baggage that comes with established canon.

No release date has been set for Daisy Ridley’s next Star Wars film.
