Ever since Marvel Netflix had been cancelled, fans have been clamoring to have Charlie Cox return as Atty. Matt Murdock. What’s interesting is, it’s possible that we could be getting the Man without Fear’s return in Tom Holland’s next Spider-Man movie.
This rumor actually comes from director Kevin Smith, who in the latest episode of Fatman Beyond said that he heard a rumor about Spider-Man 3 having a ‘lawyer in it.’ When asked if he meant She-Hulk, Smith said:
‘Charlie Cox, they’re bringing in as Matt Murdock. That’s been the rumor online and they say that’s like the one that like Marvel’s like, ‘god damn it how did that get out?’
For now, it’s just a rumor, but we know that several fans have wanted to have Charlie Cox come back for a while. Heck, they’ve been making petitions for Disney+ to incorporate the Netflix heroes in the MCU in some way.
While I don’t think the Netflix shows are perfect, I thought they did some fantastic casting, and I would definitely love to see all the Defenders make an appearance from Luke Cage to Iron Fist. Hopefully Marvel has a plan to incorporate them all soon, seeing as Disney now holds all of the cards. Fingers crossed they make it into Phase 5 along with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.
For now, Spider-Man 3 is still aiming for a start this summer, and if things go according to plan, we could get the movie released on July 16, 2021.
