John Boyega Rumored to Return in Upcoming Star Wars Film

A lot of fans celebrated when it was announced that Daisy Ridley would be coming back for Star Wars last Celebration, but none of her co-stars from the Sequel Trilogy had been part of the announcement. What’s interesting is, a rumor has come out that another ST hero has been confirmed to join the film.

According to The Hot Mic podcast (via The Direct), multiple sources have claimed that John Boyega (Finn) would be coming back for Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars film alongside Ridley. We don’t have any details of what his role is, but it is said that Rey will attempt to build a new Jedi order, and it’s hinted at that Finn will be one of her first students.

Though Finn’s arc was kind of bland in The Rise of Skywalker, it had been implied that he was Force-sensitive, and we could further be exploring that when it comes to this new movie.

Admittedly, Boyega had been vocal about his displeasure for Finn’s arc the way it played out, but with these new movies incoming, it’s very possible that his story could very much continue, and we can see some more interesting changes for the character.

If you ask me, I never really needed Finn to be a Jedi. I really loved the original plan to just have him lead the stormtrooper uprising in Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of the Fates. Though the script did have some issues, I thought it had wonderful arcs for not just Finn and Rey, but characters like Kylo Ren and Rose as well.

No specific release date has been announced for Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars, but the film is set to release sometime in 2025.
