Black Widow Officially Coming Out in 2020

It’s been announced for a while that a Black Widow solo film is in the works, but we still have no idea when it’s supposed to come out. Good news is, it looks like we don’t have to wait that long before Widow gets the spotlight in the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Black Widow movie is aiming for a release next year, and what’s more Scarlett Johansson is attached as producer—making her the first MCU actor to produce and star in her own film.

For now, we don’t have that much details on the story, but counting how Avengers: Endgame ended, it’s likely we’re going to see an origin story for Widow. Maybe we’ll follow her days as a KGB agent, before she’s recruited by SHIELD or “saved” by Clint Barton.

This is also just a rumor for now, but it’s said that the main villain for Black Widow is going to be the Taskmaster—a master martial artist in the comics who could copy any fighting style that he sees.

Cate Shortland is set to direct the Black Widow movie, and besides Johansson, the film will also be starring the likes of Rachel Weisz, O-T Fagbenle, and Florence Pugh. This is also unexpected, but Hellboy star David Harbour is also going to be in the movie. This is also me just specuating, but I have a good feeling that Jeremy Renner is going to reprise Hawkeye in this film.

We don’t have a release date for Black Widow yet, but we know it comes out in 2020. In the meantime, catch her and the rest of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Endgame now out in theaters.
