Before the fiasco that followed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Ben Affleck was actually attached to direct and star in his own Batman solo movie. Of course, things didn’t go as planned and the Snyderverse was cancelled, but there could be a chance for Affleck to actually direct his own Dark Knight film.
According to AboveTheLine.com Affleck is said to be planning to direct the new Batman movie under the watch of new DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Batman: The Brave & The Bold is said to be following a Bruce Wayne that discovers he has a murderous son Damien who was raised by the League of Shadows, and it’s up to him to turn him into a new Robin and teach him the more noble path that he took.
Admittedly, some part of me is hoping that Affleck will play Batman in this movie, but the plan is likely to have someone else take on the role, including a new face for Superman. Oddly enough, Gunn did say that other Snyderverse actors like Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Gal Gadot were open to keep playing their characters, but when it comes to Affleck, it’s likely that he doesn’t want the pressure of taking on the Batman again; and his appearance in The Flash is said to be his swan song to his Dark Knight.
Then again, this Brave & The Bold news is just a rumor, and it’s likely that Affleck would want to helm another DC project. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Catch Affleck in The Flash when the film comes to theaters on June 16.
