Joss Whedon had left the Batgirl project after admitting that he couldn’t find the right story for the character, and now comic writer Gail Simone has opened up online that she has the perfect story for the Batgirl movie.

Besides being responsible for bringing Barbara Gordon back to her Batgirl role after she was disabled by the Joker in The Killing Joke, Simone has also had runs writing for Wonder Woman, Deadpool, and the all-female DC team-up Birds of Prey. She’s also worked on another warrior woman from the comics, Red Sonja.
Though Simone has no experience writing for movies, I think she has the chops to deliver a story worthy of the big screen. Though Patty Jenkins did direct Wonder Woman, all the writers and story contributors were men. Then again, I don’t really care what gender any of the crew are; as long as they provide the audience with a great film, I’m up for it.
Hopefully, Warner Bros taps Simone to make the story for Batgirl. After the success of Wonder Woman, Batgirl was gearing up to be the next female-lead superhero movie. Hopefully, Simone’s story is as ‘perfect’ as she says it is. God knows a perfect film is what the DCEU needs more of.
No release date has been announced for Batgirl.
