The CW has tapped Blindspot’s Joe Dinicol to portray another vigilante in Arrow Season 5. According to Entertainment Weekly, Dinicol will play DC’s mystical vigilante Rory Regan aka Ragman. “Fresh from a personal tragedy, Rory hopes to find answers in Star City, where he ultimately crosses paths with Green Arrow.” The character will make his first appearance on the show in the second episode. It’s great news, but he isn’t the only new guy in town. Ragman’s debut goes on a list of other vigilantes set to appear — Wild Dog, Vigilante, and Artemis.
In the comics, Ragman’s dons a mystical Suit of Souls. With it he takes the souls of the guilty, using their abilities to fight. He typically dishes out justice is Gotham, so it’ll be interesting to see if it’s mentioned as his place of origin on Arrow.
Because Arrow is said to be returning to its more grounded roots, this character could offer a fascinating dynamic. Especially after the ruin of Damien Darhk, who wielded mystical powers with malignant intent. Vixen and Constantine made an appearance in Season 4, using their abilities for good. However, Ragman may become a more permanent ally.
Arrow returns Wednesday nights this fall starting October 5.
