Besides Supernatural, Jensen Ackles has found a new pop-culture fan-favorite in the form of Soldier Boy from The Boys. What’s interesting is, he actually wanted a role in one of the most anticipated shows of 2023.
In a recent con appearance, Ackles confirmed that he ‘pushed hard’ to play Joel in The Last of Us series for HBO; a role that ultimately went to the Mandalorian himself Pedro Pascal. Watch this:

“I was really kind of pushing hard, but I don’t think I was really in a mix or even had a shot at it, for Pedro Pascal’s role in the Last Of Us. I was like… that was high up on my radar…”
Though it would have been great to see Ackles in the part, you can’t deny that Pascal looks pretty solid in the role, and it seems that he has great chemistry with actress Bella Ramsey. Who knows, maybe Ackles can land a part in a future season. I would love to see him as one of the WLF in Seattle or maybe he can even play Abby’s dad?
He may not be Joel, but Ackles sure stole the show with his small appearance in The Boys. Soldier Boy may not be the noblest of characters, but he was damn entertaining to watch, like a realistic, raunchy take on Captain America being lost in time.
The Last of Us premieres on HBO Max on Jan. 16, 2023.
