It was back in 2021 when Wes Anderson released The French Dispatch, and now the cinematic auteur is ready to take on what looks to be a sci-fi story with Asteroid City. The film is set to release next month, and we have a couple of clips that give us a good feel of the movie.
Check these out:
We can’t really piece together the whole story of the movie with the clips, but it does look like the characters will be forced to quarantine in the location of Asteroid City. Like any Wes Anderson movie, each character is also their own particular kind of kooky, and we have some interesting interactions between them with from Jason Schwartzman being a photographer, to Scarlett Johansson being a famous actress.
After the release of French Dispatch, it does look like Anderson is pushing the boundaries of his visual style. So far, it doesn’t seem like Asteroid City was as extensive as FD, but I’m still excited to see what kind of story Anderson is looking to tell.
Here’s the official synopsis:
ASTEROID CITY takes place in a fictional American desert town circa 1955. Synopsis: The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention (organized to bring together students and parents from across the country for fellowship and scholarly competition) is spectacularly disrupted by world-changing events.
Watch out for Asteroid City when it comes to theaters on June 16.
