As per scooper Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie) Tenet and BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington is now being eyed to take over the role of Kang. We don’t have any further details about the role, but compared to Domingo, Washington is closer to the age that Majors is, and he’s already proven that he can pull off complicated action scenes.

With Washington in the role, there is also a chance that the audience could be more sympathetic to his villain, seeing that he’s had a history of playing protagonists before.

As for Domingo though, it’s very likely that he could have a more commanding presence with his age, but we shouldn’t expect him to be as physically imposing. Then again, it does seem that the Kang character is pretty dependent on how many characters the actor can come up with, seeing that each version has to be distinct.

If you ask me, they should consider Jay Pharoah for the part because he’s proven he can do a lot of impressions, but maybe having a comedy actor could be distracting—but Bryan Cranston still made that jump from Malcolm and the Middle and Breaking Bad, so who knows what could work?

For now, Marvel is yet to announce a new Kang the Conqueror, but you can catch Majors’ final performance in Loki Season 2 now streaming on Disney+.

Oppenheimer Adds Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon https://www.geekfeed.com/oppenheimer-adds-robert-downey-jr-and-matt-damon/ Sat, 06 Nov 2021 04:24:59 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62248 After Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. kind of floundered with the release of Dolittle, but it looks like he’s managed to nab a role in the next project of one of the most high-profile directors today.

Deadline reports that RDJ has been cast in Christopher Nolan’s next film, Oppenheimer, and what’s more, he’s also joined by Nolan vet Matt Damon (Interstellar) in the film. No details have been disclosed about Downey’s role in the movie, but hopefully he manages to do some interesting work; otherwise, why cast Downey at all?

Downey and Nolan join a cast which already includes Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Emily Blunt (Jungle Cruise) who are said to be playing J. Robert Oppenheimer and his wife respectively. The story is said to follow Oppenheimer’s work into the creation of the atomic bomb, and is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

While Nolan has been known for his minimalist science fiction like Inception and Tenet, he has since been working on some non-fiction period pieces like Dunkirk. I’m interested to see what kind of experience he wants to give the audience with Oppenheimer, and I’m hopeful that it will be at least more coherent than his last movie.

With a release date set for the middle of 2023, it could be a while before we get to have our first look at Oppenheimer, but for now the cast just continues to grow. You think Nolan would be fine moving forward with Michael Caine retiring?

Oppenheimer is slated for a release on July 21, 2023.

Oppenheimer: Emily Blunt in Talks to Join Christopher Nolan’s Next Film https://www.geekfeed.com/oppenheimer-emily-blunt-in-talks-to-join-christopher-nolans-next-film/ Fri, 22 Oct 2021 16:24:05 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=62111 Emily blunt had already found herself messing with time in Edge of Tomorrow, and now it looks like she’s going to be teaming up with the time-obsessed director of Tenet, Christopher Nolan.

As per Deadline, Blunt is now in talks to join Nolan’s upcoming project with Universal, Oppenheimer. She joins a cast which already includes Cillian Murphy, who she had worked with previously with A Quiet Place Part II.

Blunt is said to play the part of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s (Murphy) wife as the film follows the story of the man who ran the Manhattan Project which led to the invention of the atom bomb. Like all Nolan films, Oppenheimer is expecting an all-star cast, and Murphy and Blunt are the first two to join the project.

While Nolan has been known for making mind-bending movies like Inception and Memento, Oppenheimer will be his second project that will be based on actual history. Before that, he had worked on Dunkirk, which was then followed by his time-bending Tenet. I guess it’s also worth noting that the movie is also said to be based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin

After his very public break-up with WB, a lot of people are curious on what’s next for Nolan. Hopefully Universal Studios manages to keep him for longer. Despite some issues with his previous films, Nolan still manages to be one of the most celebrated modern directors today, and everyone is excited for what he has to bring to the big screen next.

Oppenheimer is expected to come out on July 21, 2023.
