Jackson Really Wants a Mace Windu Spinoff https://www.geekfeed.com/samuel-l-jackson-wants-a-mace-windu-spinoff/ Fri, 16 Feb 2024 17:32:27 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=81066 Samuel L. Jackson may be one of the tenets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury, but back in the 00s, he was Jedi Master Mace Windu. With all the new Star Wars spinoffs like Kenobi and Boba Fett coming out, Jackson has been very vocal about having Windu come back somehow, and in a new interview, he shows that he hasn’t changed his stance.

Talking to Empire, Jackson exclaims, “He’s not dead!” and when the site tried to ask him what kind of project he would have liked to work on, Jackson just said, “Everything, yes!”

For context, Jackson’s Mace Windu had been one of the main Jedi masters of the entire sequel trilogy, finally brandishing a lightsaber in Attack of the Clones, then falling to his death thanks to Darth Sidious and Anakin Skywalker.

With so many characters coming back to life, a lot of fans think that it’s ultimately better for Star Wars if some characters stayed dead, but there could be ways for Jackson to come back in some form without having to resurrect Windu.

He already did a voice cameo as Windu in The Rise of Skywalker, but some fans have been pitching a young Windu series with someone else taking on the role. If they want to go further with the Ahsoka series, I think they could just bring in a hologram of young Windu in Clone Wars armor, and use some of that Captain Marvel magic to de-age Jackson.

For now, Mace Windu remains a dead Jedi, but there’s always some wiggle room in a galaxy far far away.

New Secret Invasion Featurette Puts the Spotlight on Nick Fury https://www.geekfeed.com/new-secret-invasion-featurette-centers-nick-fury/ Fri, 23 Jun 2023 08:54:08 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=77406 Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury has been around since the first Iron Man, but he’s mostly played a supporting character around heavyweights like Captain America and Captain Marvel.

Now Fury is set to be his own central character in the upcoming series Secret Invasion, and we have a new featurette highlighting just how close this story will be to Fury this time around. Check this out:

Though Samuel L. Jackson is at the very center of the movie, the film has surprisingly gathered some major stars to appear in the show. Besides guest stars like Cobie Smulders and Martin Freeman, the show has also nabbed Olivia Coleman (The Favourite) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones, Solo: A Star Wars Story); they’ve also brought back Ben Mendelsohn to reprise his role as Talos from Captain Marvel.

Admittedly, hype for the movie seems to be at a low for Marvel, but some fans think this could be the franchise trying something new this time around. With She-Hulk: Attorney at Law leaning more into a traditional sitcom as compared to other Marvel series; some think that the change in marketing could mean Secret Invasion could be promising a different kind of story set in the MCU.

Then again, we have been wrong before. Here’s the official synopsis:

“In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill, and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney+.

Nick Fury Prepares for War in New Teaser for Secret Invasion https://www.geekfeed.com/nick-fury-in-new-teaser-for-secret-invasion/ Tue, 23 May 2023 13:12:06 +0000 https://www.geekfeed.com/?p=76903 Nick Fury may have sat out the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, but he’s set to be the center of the spotlight with the upcoming Secret Invasion series.

The show is set to premiere in June, and we have a new Fight teaser that gives us a good look at the action and espionage we can expect in the story. Check this out:

It’s not entirely clear what role every player has in the series, but it does seem that Olivia Coleman’s character is someone that’s above Fury in the hierarchy. It’s unclear exactly what Fury’s role is when it comes to SHIELD, but a lot of people in his circle are coming back including Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) and the Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn).

We also have a new character in the form of Emilia Clarke. She may not have been able to reprise the role of Qi’Ra from Solo: A Star Wars Story, but her Disney connections got her in this Marvel miniseries.

With She-Hulk opening the door for what a Marvel series could be, I’m hoping that Secret Invasion manages to really shake-up the formula. I mean, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel had their moments, but they were both pretty typical superhero origin films. Hopefully Secret Invasion will bring some Andor-level storytelling to the MCU.

“In Marvel Studios’ new series ‘Secret Invasion,’ set in the present day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.”

Secret Invasion premieres on Disney+ on June 21.
