RUMOR: How Punisher will be Used in Daredevil – Born Again

Disney+ may be scrapping the entire continuity of Netflix’s Daredevil, but they are keeping some elements with their soft reboot of Daredevil: Born Again. Fans don’t know exactly what to expect from the show yet besides a clashing of ideas between Daredevil and Kingpin, but rumor has it that the series will also have the presence of another Marvel icon—the Punisher.

According to @CanWeGetToast, the Punisher exists in the MCU, and some corrupt cops have started to use his logo for themselves—mirroring what some policemen actually do in the real world. Here’s the post:

Though the Punisher has yet to appear in the main MCU timeline, he did make his debut played by Jon Bernthal in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil, and he also got his own The Punisher spinoff show as well.

Reports had gone out last March that Bernthal was definitely coming back, but we have yet to get an update on the size of his role when it comes to Born Again.

Granted that everything is more PG in Disney’s MCU, we don’t know exactly what to expect with this universe’s new version of Punisher, but it definitely would be interesting to see just how he’s affecting the rest of the world; seeing that even the comics Frank Castle has had to address the issue of policemen or soldiers not actually getting the point of the character.

Of course, this is just a rumor for now, but I definitely think that Bernthal did a great job as the character, and it would be great if they brought him back. There are just some comic fans that think Netflix kind of forgot the point of the Punisher, where they tried to explain Frank’s condition as PTSD—when he’s just a violent nutjob.

No release date has been set for Daredevil: Born Again, but the show is expected to premiere sometime next year.
