Chris Pine On The Possibility of a Dungeons & Dragons Sequel

Chris Pine On The Possibility of a Dungeons & Dragons Sequel

Chris Pine was a fantastic lead in the Dungeons & Dragons movie, but despite the critical praise, the film didn’t manage to make as much money as it was expected with the budget it had. Fans aren’t expecting a sequel to be made anytime soon, but Pine himself seems to be very positive about a follow-up.

During an appearance at the Superhero Comic-Con (via @AgentsofFandom), Pine said, “I think there’s a really good chance that we’ll make another one… and if they can figure out a financial way to make it work, they’ll do it.”

Though the movie didn’t manage to make a splash at the box office, Honor Among Thieves has been praised for getting the right feel of a Dungeons & Dragons session, with the characters bickering like modern players and completely out-of-field moments happening, attributing them to lucky dice rolls in an actual game.

The game also pays a lot of attention to detail when it comes to Easter Eggs, with the creatures that appear in the film as well as the different locations mentioned.

With Pine’s next Star Trek film having a hard time getting off the ground, we don’t know how long it would take for another D&D movie; but from what we can surmise from Pine, they will probably just need to make the financing work.

If you ask me, they can just tell a contained story that doesn’t need to have world-ending stakes. After all, it was the characters that won the film, and not really the plot. Who even cares about the bald sorceress lady that nobody remembers?

A sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has not been officially announced.
