The last season of The Mandalorian may have been met with mixed feelings, but Dave Filoni is set to come back next month with his fan-favorite character Ahsoka Tano. Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson is set to release on Disney+ in August, and Disney has dropped a full trailer featuring Ahsoka, Hera, Sabine, Thrawn, and more.
Check this out:
Ever since her debut in The Mandalorian, fans know that Ahsoka is on a mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, and it looks like they’ll finally come head-to-head in this show. Of course, we also have some familiar faces from Rebels including Sabine the Mandalorian as well as Rebel pilot Hera Syndulla.
We don’t know who Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno’s characters are yet, but it definitely looks like they’re working for the Dark Side. Though it’s easy to brand them as Inquisitors, it’s possible they could be another faction, counting their orange lightsabers.
With Thrawn being branded Heir to the Empire, rumors are swirling that this series will actually build up to the creation of the First Order that we meet in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. Though there are some that believe that Lucasfilm is erasing the ST from canon, it does look like they’re ready to revisit that era after enough time has passed since The Rise of Skywalker.
I’m just hoping Filoni manages to tone down his reliance for nostalgia with this series, because fans are already starting to get tired of his formula.
Watch out for the 2-episode premiere of Ahsoka when it streams on Disney+ on Aug. 23.
