Geoff Johns’ DC Rebirth saw a new status quo established in the DC Universe. They’re hoping it will lead to a successful future for the brand going forward. Their Justice League series will be key, and it’s getting off to a strong start based on this latest preview.
A Wonder Woman heavy preview of Justice League #1 sees the action ramped up ahead of a major test DC’s for greatest heroes. Below you can see a glimpse of the new series, written by Bryan Hitch and drawn by Tony Daniel. You’re bound to see something new within this series, as Hitch told DC All-Access the Justice League would be facing some completely original villains.
Clearly we’re seeing a fierce version of Wonder Woman, who is used to wading into world disputes. She may not have taken a big role in DC Rebirth, but Diana Prince is going to be a major part of Justice League judging by this preview. From what we’ve heard about the threat they’re facing, the League is going to need the Amazon at her best in the coming issues.
The Justice League has plenty of strength on show, as you can see above. In addition to Wonder Woman, other League members include: Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Superman. Green Lanterns Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz will be along for the ride, as well. The first issue is available July 20.
If you want to know more about this Justice League run, here’s the official synopsis:
The oceans rise. The earth quakes. And an ancient power rises to reclaim not just the world, but the universe itself—and not even the combined might of the Justice League can stop it. An all-new era begins with this epic by comic book legend Bryan Hitch (JLA, The Ultimates) and master storyteller Tony S. Daniel (BATMAN: R.I.P., DEATHSTROKE).
