‘Wonder Woman’ Actress Teases Villainous Role

Wonder Woman’s first trailer hit the web and left many fans in awe during SDCC. The film hits theaters next summer, and yet we know very little about it. Details regarding the narrative are scant, and we hope it stays that way. However, talks of who the villain is are continuing to swirl. Many speculate Danny Huston’s character, the German officer in the ballroom scene, may be playing Ares in a human form. Meanwhile, others contend the woman with the prosthetic mask covering her face could be the big bad. It could be either or, it could be neither, but few would be surprised if both assumptions were correct. According to Elena Anaya, the actress who plays the mysterious disfigured woman, some theories may have a lead on others.

Talking to SensaCine (via Batman News), Anaya revealed the following about her Wonder Woman role:

“Well, it was a small role in this big ensemble, but it is an important character in the story. It’s directed by Patty Jenkins, then there’s Gal Gadot as our main lead, Chris Pine as her co-lead and I’m going to be… a big nightmare for the two of them”.

Note that she says it’s a “small role.” Perhaps Anaya’s character is only one of many “big nightmare[s]” our heroes will face on the big screen. What kind of nightmare her presence and actions entails is sure to keep us guessing for months to come.

In the trailer, we see her apparently watching Diana from afar at the aforementioned ball. She doesn’t seem to be much trouble in the few seconds she’s on screen. However, it is interesting that both characters thought to be the villains appear in the same place. If Danny Huston’s character is the God of War mimicking a human form, perhaps this mysterious masked lady is disguising herself as well. Maybe they’re cohorts. Tell us your thoughts and theories in the comments below.

All will be revealed once Wonder Woman hits theaters June 2, 2017.
