Suicide Squad has had a pretty bad wrap since its release. There are many positives, though. One of which, to many, is Jared Leto’s take on the Joker.
While the live-action Justice League prequels aren’t working as well as expected, there’s still The Lego Batman Movie to come. Speaking to Fandango, Will Arnett, who plays the Lego version of the Dark Knight, and Jared Leto have both said they want to see their characters face-off on the big screen.
According to the news site, Fandango’s correspondents Tiffany Smith and Kristian Harloff talked to Arnett about the idea during San Diego Comic Con. You can see the videos here.
Taken from EW:
“Much like Lego Batman himself, Arnett was overly confident in his character’s skills. According to him, the mini Dark Knight would do “very well” in a fight against Leto’s Joker.
“He looks a little, kinda scrawny, doesn’t he?” he said in the video below. “Just kind of, like, skinny, just kind of like hipster — in a good way, by the way! It looks amazing. I’m just saying, in a fight.””
Here’s Leto’s reply:
“Anytime you want to meet the Joker in a dark alley, bring your Legos,”
The Lego Batman Movie already has its Joker, voiced by Zach Galifianakis. This lighter, more comical Lego world could be exactly what DC and Warner Bros. needs to remedy the poor Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad films we’ve seen so far. Will Arnett’s comedy could play off of the Joker’s darker edge spectacularly, too. Imagine the pull-away if it were to be revealed the entire film is just a twisted game by the live-action Joker.
Leto’s Joker seems entwined with Batfleck for now. Who knows what could happen in the future, though?
The Lego Batman Movie arrives in February 2017.
