Monster trucks. We all know about them. Those big, gas-guzzling trucks battle it out in fierce competitions. Well now there’s a film about one, but it’s not what you expect.
Monster Trucks, the new film from director Chris Wedge and produced by Paramount Pictures is a strange but brilliant idea. Tripp, the main character in the movie, played by Lucas Till of X-Men fame, owns a monster truck with a big secret – he has a monster living under his bonnet. Not only does the monster, Creech, live under his bonnet, he also drives the truck alongside Tripp.
And you thought you’d seen it all with Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.
You can see Creech in all its glory in the trailer below. Aside from the cute monster living in Tripp’s truck, you can’t deny that the film has a pretty original plot. The studio have definitely got the balance right in terms of CGI and live-action. In one particular high-paced shot, we see Creech throwing its tentacles out of the truck to flip it over to the other side of another monster truck. We can all agree that this film definitely won’t be boring.
As well as a trailer, we also have a glorious poster just to prove that those tentacles are real:
Cinema really doesn’t get any better than this.
Creech certainly has that animated charm which many people will fall in love with. Until the film hits cinemas, though, this is going to be a hard one to call. The way Paramount have set Monster Trucks up, it looks like they’re raring up for more adventures with Tripp and Creech. The animated/CGI cross-overs are hot in the box office at the moment, so maybe Monster Trucks has a good chance. The film’s release date slots perfectly into Christmas, too, with a premiere on December 26th, or Boxing Day.
