Are you itching to play Star Wars Battlefront’s new Bespin expansion pack? If you’re anticipation was high, it’ll be even higher after you see the teaser for the new DLC. Less than a week after confirming the release date, EA has given us a look at what we can expect in a few weeks’ time.
In the video below, we get plenty of gameplay footage, along with looks at the new maps we’ll be playing on. Following the teaser, there were some extra details revealed on what else we’re getting in this expansion. Not only are there new maps and heroes, but also new modes and weapons.
Lando Calrissian obviously takes centre-stage here, he’s a character fans have been waiting for since the release. It seems like this DLC will take a lot from the ending of Empire Strikes Back, when the Empire raided Bespin. That film made Bespin an iconic location, and there’s plenty from the film that could translate over to the game.
The Bespin pack is adding five new maps to Battlefront, which again are heavy influenced by the film. The corridors of the administrators palace will be there, as will the carbon freezing chambers where Luke Skywalker battled Darth Vader. There’s also the Bioniip Laboratories, which fans of the Star Wars Legends stories might recognise. The cloud city itself is probably considered a map, for when you take to the skies in Fighter Squadron.
Fighter Squadron was missed in the Outer Rim pack, but it’s getting extra attention here. The Cloud Car, as seen in Empire, will be added in this pack. We expect the vehicle to play some part in the aerial battles around the city.
Sabotage is the newest mode on Battlefront. It seems centred around Bespin, if the description is anything to go by:
The Empire has deployed several tractor beams on the surface of Cloud City that prevents Rebel ships from escaping the planet. In order to power the tractor beams, the Empire makes use of Tibanna Gas Generators that draw from the Tibanna Gas native to Bespin.
The Scout Binoculars, Disruption and Shock Grenade Star Cards don’t seem all that special, but they should be interesting additions. We’ll see more from them when the expansion pack is released. It lands for season pass holders on June 21, with a wider release two weeks later.
