Like Godzilla, King Kong and others, King Arthur has been the subject of many movies. Now, Guy Ritchie has created his own take on the legend. Just like Sherlock Holmes, Ritchie has also brought in his own rock ‘n’ roll flavour to the Excalibur-wielding royal. Produced with Warner Bros., Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur movie focuses on the King’s rags-to-riches origin story.
This latest adventure featuring the King of Camelot is due out on May 12th. In addition to this, to get us excited for the new movie, Warner Bros. has released a final full-length trailer for the movie. You can see the kick-ass trailer for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword below.
EW has also revealed more about the film’s plot:
Sons of Anarchy bad boy Charlie Hunnam stars as Arthur, who fled as a boy while his father, King Uther Pendragon (Eric Bana), was slain by his uncle Vortigern (Jude Law). The footage reveals his upbringing at a brothel, while Vortigern, bolstered by dark magic, assumes control of the throne. As an adult, Arthur claims his birthright by pulling Excalibur from the throne, propelling him on a collision course with gargantuan beasts and a fantastical battle for the ages.
Warner Bros. appears to want to turn the King Arthur movie into a series of films, with this new trailer setting up a lot of the world of Camelot. Not only do we get the famous shots of Arthur’s sword Excalibur in this latest movie about the legendary King, we also have some big CGI scenes featuring elephants and magic, not to forget the high-action fight scenes that Guy Ritchie is famous for. However, could this be the start of a solid series of King Arthur films, or will the slick CGI and plot of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword fail to win at the box office?
We hope this is the King Arthur movie we’ve been waiting for.
