The last few years have seen the return of a lot of movie and television franchises. From big blockbuster science fiction films like Star Wars and Star Trek to multicamera sitcom like Will & Grace, today’s audiences seem to revel in nostalgia. With that said, it isn’t surprising that a marginally successful Disney television movie like Life-Size 2 is getting a sequel.
After almost two decades, Life-Size 2 has been confirmed and is currently in production. According to reports, the television sequel is slated to be released in December. Naturally, with the release date mere months away, details about the film are already surfacing.
Tyra Banks, the star of the original movie aka Eve, has recently gushed about how excited she is for the project. The supermodel would be returning to her role as Eve – the Barbie-esque doll that came to life following a hiccup in a pre-teens’ plans. According to Banks, who also produced the movie, she was impressed with the production’s output and she is sure that the film would surpass expectations:
“I actually think we are going to surpass expectations because [for] me as a producer and actor in it, it surpassed my own expectations” gushed Tyra.
While Banks has been very eager to participate in the production of Life-Size 2, her original co-star, Lindsey Lohan, has confirmed that she would not be tied to the project. The actress is currently working on a reality show on MTV and the scheduled just wouldn’t fit.
Nevertheless, Banks assures fans of the original Life-Size movie, Lohan would be a part of the sequel one way or another:
“She has this new TV show on MTV about this club so she couldn’t make it, which was sad. [Lindsay] will be in the movie in some kind of way. We’ll see where that ends up.”
In place of Lohan, Banks has announced on an Instagram post that Francia Raisa, famous for her role in Grown-ish, would co-star banks in Life-Size 2. Raisa would be playing Grace Manning – the CEO of Marathon Toys, creators of the iconic Eve doll.
“Now filming: LIFE SIZE 2. It’s time y’all! You’ve waited long enough. I’m so excited to announce who will co-star with Eve 2.0…the magnificently fierce @franciaraisa. See you on @freeform this holiday season! #LifeSize2 #ShineBrightShineFar. “
Since her announcement, Banks has confirmed that working with Raisa has been such a dream. Aside from filming, the two women have bonded outside of the set:
“We went to a spa together before we started shooting and that really bonded us. That girl can act, it’s in her eyes.”
Aside from Banks and Raisa, Gavin Stenhouse has been tapped to star in the television movie. He would be playing potential love interest. Consequently, Shanica Knowles and Hank Chen would be playing Tahlia and Brendan, Grace’s best friends.
As of this moment, no definitive release date has been announced for Life-Size 2. However, it is expected that the sequel would be released during Freeform’s 25 Days of Days of Christmas.
