Transformers: Beast Wars Movie in Development

With Bumblebee supposedly rebooting the Transformers franchise, fans are waiting for the next big thing from All Spark Pictures. What’s interesting is, we  could be getting a movie adaptation for another Transformers property—Beast Wars.

According to Deadline, Paramount is currently working on two different Transformers films; one will be a follow-up to Bumblebee with the other being an adaptation of the 90s series Beast Wars.

Just in case you don’t know, Beast Wars is basically a revamp of Transformers in a sense that, instead of machines, the robots turn into animals. The two factions have been renamed the Maximals (Autobots) and Predacons (Decepticons) and they are both lead by Optimus Primal and Megatron respectively.

The show is actually loosely based on the original Trasnformers timeline as well, and there were even cameo appearances from characters like Starscream, Optimus Prime, and the OG Megatron.

Seeing that the Transformers franchises usually go big in scale, we don’t know how a set of animals will be able to bring the same kind of action that the first movies have become known for. While there was positive feedback for the more traditional look of robots in the Bumblebee film, the movie still came out as one of the lowest earning installments in the franchise. Maybe people are just tired of Transformers? Or maybe they just need to make a full story that’s fully set in the world of Cybertron; I mean, that opening sequence was phenomenal.

For now, both projects are still in early development, but hopefully we get a new movie come 2022.
