Besides new views on the LGBTQ+ movement, there has also been new progressive thoughts on modern relationships, and more people are hearing about open marriages all the time.
Admittedly, the concept is still absurd to some, and NEON is releasing a film that goes at the idea of open marriages through a comedy lens. Check out the trailer for Splitsville:
Here’s the official description for the film:
After Ashley (Adria Arjona) asks for a divorce, good-natured Carey (Kyle Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Dakota Johnson) and Paul (Michael Angelo Covino), for support. He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, that is until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.
This is the second full length feature from director Michael Angelo Covino, and his last film The Climb came out back in 2019. What’s funny is that he also starred in that movie with Kyle Marvin, and the story also had something to do with friends dealing with infidelity issues. Check out the trailer for it:
Personally, I’m a big fan of Dakota Jonson, and Adria Arjona just had a fantastic run with Andor. While this project is more on the comedic side, the film still looks interesting, and it should be an interesting new look at modern couples and people who go for these open marriages.
Watch out for Splitsville when it comes to cinemas on Aug. 22.
