Tom Hiddleston is no stranger to playing villains. Most notably, he plays Thor’s brother and nemesis, Loki in the Thor films. In both movies, he gives the Marvel superhero some tough competition. Whilst, off-stage the man is probably lovely, you can definitely see a dark and wonderful charm about him.
Now the Loki actor will be playing another nemesis. This time, however, he’s swapping his mysterious teleporting for the Bronze Age, as he takes on the tyrant, Lord Nooth, in Aardman Studios and StudioCanal film, Early Man.
Hiddleston isn’t the only big name in Early Man, by the creators of Wallace and Gromit, though. Joining him will be Eddie Redmayne who’ll be voicing Dug, the caveman who’ll have to, as EW report, “unite his tribe against the mighty Bronze Age in a battle to beat them at their own game.”
Dug’s rival, Lord Nooth, is the evil governor in charge of the Bronze Age town. With Hiddleston’s acting performance, this Aardman villain could be their best yet. Of course, we all know that Feathers Macaw, the penguin from The Wrong Trousers is current best.
Nick Park, the man behind Wallace and Gromit, will be leading Early Man‘s production. Park’s last film was Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit which won an Oscar for Best Animation back in 2005. Aardman and indeed, Nick, have a reputation for making some fantastic films. Early Man is already hotting up to be a hit in 2018, and it’ll certainly fill the hole in us Aardman fans’ spots.
Nick Park and Tom Hiddleston have both been sharing their excitement at working together. Here’s what Nick Park had to say (via EW):
“Tom is a wonderful actor and it’s so thrilling to see him bring our comic villain to life with his amazing talent, energy, and enthusiasm,” Park said in a statement. “It is a great privilege to work with Tom and I’m so excited to see his character Lord Nooth emerge on screen.”
To show his excitement, Hiddleston posted an image over on Instagram:
