None but most dedicated Tom Hiddleston fans may know that he’s is quite the impersonator. One of his most repeated impersonations is that of fellow Avengers cast mate Chris Evans. Last night on Late Night With Seth Meyers, he begrudgingly obliged once again:
For an even better example of Hiddleston’s Evans, view his appearance at Nerd HQ following his legendary onstage spectacle at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2013 as Loki in Hall H:
Hiddleston’s and Evans’ abilities to ape each other came in very useful for a special easter egg scene in Thor: The Dark World when Loki takes on the guise of Captain America to taunt his brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth). For that scene, Hiddleston actually donned the star-spangled costume Evans wore in Avengers while keeping his trademark long black hair. He mimicked Evans as he would imagine Evans mimicking Loki. The footage was then shown to Evans who mimicked Hiddleston mimicking Captain America mimicking Loki.
For years Hiddleston has given some pretty impressive examples of his mimicry skills, his best likely being Owen Wilson, though his Chris Hemsworth is pretty spot-on, too. No comment on his Samuel L. Jackson.
Hiddleston’s appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers was to promote the US premiere of BBC’s spy-thriller series The Night Manager, which has been met with absolutely stellar reviews. Hugh Laurie also stars. Catch it on AMC beginning April 19.
He is also featured as the lead in the new thriller High Rise with Luke Evans, Jeremy Irons and Sienna Miller, in theaters May 13.
Chris Evans can very soon be seen in Captain America: Civil War where he reprises his role for the fifth time (not including his Thor: The Dark World cameo) as Steve Rogers/Captain America, due in theaters May 6.
