While he was mostly in the shadows for the first season, Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon is going to be taking center stage as the antagonist of Season 2. With him wielding the Darksaber, it’s going to be interesting to see how Din Djarin is going to clash with him; if anything, Gideon’s fight won’t be with our main Mando, but rather Ahsoka Tano who is said to be making her live-action debut this season.

While the first season of The Mandalorian was more episodic in nature, showrunner Jon Favreau has emphasized that this season will tell a larger, more connected story. He tells EW:

“The new season is about introducing a larger story in the world… The stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavor, and hopefully, we’re bringing a lot more scope to the show.”

Despite that, we should also expect the series to delve more into the relationship between the Mandalorian and the Child a.k.a. Baby Yoda. Series director Dave Filoni added, “Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy.”

Catch the second season of The Mandalorian when it hits Disney+ on Oct. 30.
