Teaser for The Franchise Pokes Fun at the Making of the MCU

Marvel Studios is one of the biggest money-making franchises in Hollywood today, but it’s no mystery that things can get pretty chaotic when nothing is going according to plan.

HBO apparently thought that was a fun premise for a series, and this year we’re getting a show called The Franchise which is all about the chaos of making a multi-million budget superhero movie. Check this out:

Here’s the description for the series:

A team trapped inside the dysfunctional hell of creating franchise superhero movies, at the end of the day the question they face is: is this Hollywood’s new dawn or cinema’s last stand? Is this a dream factory or a chemical plant?

Though the teaser only gives us a look at the chaos happening on set, it’s possible that the show would also look into the pre-production/post-production phases which can also be considered pretty chaotic from wrangling actors to last-minute changes requested by the studio.

The series has also done a bit of meta-casting with actors that have starred in big franchise movies like Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War) and Richard E. Grant (Loki, Star Wars). The Boys fans will also recognize Stormfront actress Aya Cash.

Though I am all up for a meta-series, it’s not clear how a show about making superhero franchises is going to fly with audiences. I honestly loved Reboot which was about the making of a sitcom, but admittedly, the show didn’t manage to connect well enough with audiences and was mostly enjoyed by fans of the television process.

Hopefully The Franchise manages to get out of that trap. With some solid filmmakers credited as creators, I can’t wait to see how this series is going to tackle the behind-the-scenes narrative.

The Franchise is set to hit Max on Oct. 6.
