It\u2019s been almost a decade, but Pixar is finally moving forward with Toy Story 4. Originally set to come out in 2017, Toy Story 4 is now looking at a 2019 release date.\r\n\r\nDirector Josh Cooley has posted this on his Twitter page with the release date June 21, 2019:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nCooley was at the helm for Pixar\u2019s Inside Out and he will be joined by co-director Jonas Rivera who had worked on Pixar\u2019s latest hit, Coco. Originally, John Lasseter was set to direct the movie, but he was said to have left the project July 2017\u2014add to that his leave of absence after sexual harassment allegations started popping up.\r\n\r\nThe original premise was supposed to focus on Woody and his romance with Bo Peep, and the script was supposed to come from Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Both of them actually stepped away from the project as well, and Jones told Entertainment Weekly:\r\n\r\n"There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films. However, it is also a culture where women and people of color do not have an equal creative voice."\r\n\r\nNow Toy Story 4 will be getting its script from Stephany Blossom (Thor: Ragnarok), but we still have no plot details to give out as of now. To be honest, I thought that Toy Story 3 was a clever cap off to the trilogy, and I don\u2019t know which possible storyline Pixar could go moving forward that would have the same emotional weight as the last film.\r\n\r\nToy Story 4 comes out June 21, 2019.
