The wait for Blade Runner 2 will be shorter than anticipated. Granted, we still have over a year until it opens, but it is still happening.\r\n\r\nWarner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment announced today that the long-awaited sequel will hit theaters on Oct. 6, 2017, reports TheWrap. That's three months earlier than the previous\u00a0Jan. 12, 2018 release date.\r\n\r\nThe move likely means that Warner Bros. is confident in the film's prospects, since an October release puts the sci-fi movie right in the middle of the awards season. January is typically a dumping ground and a project with such a talented team behind it shouldn't be opening at that time.\r\n\r\nBlade Runner 2 is the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic, which was based on the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?. The new script was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. Scott is a producer and the directing duties have fallen to Sicario's Denis Villeneuve.\r\n\r\nHarrison Ford will return to play Deckard again.
