Sydney Sweeney to Star in Split Fiction Adaptation

Sydney Sweeney to Star in Split Fiction Adaptation

It hasn’t even been a year since Split Fiction came out, and already the movie is getting a film adaptation from director Jon M. Chu.

According to Variety though, the movie has just nabbed a major star in the form of Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney. So far she’s the only actress attached to star, but the movie should find her pair soon enough.

For context, Split Fiction from Hazelight Studios follows the story of two authors Mio and Zoe, who have become trapped in the worlds that they’ve created—one is sci-fi, and the other fantasy. It’s safe to assume that Sweeney will be playing one of the leads, and it’s just a matter of finding out who is going to be playing the writer opposite her.

It’s also worth noting that the movie is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have just worked on the buddy comedy Deadpool and Wolverine. Surely Split Fiction is going to be more or less the same—except that the leads are going to be women.

So far, not other potential names have been matched with Sweeney, but I would imagine they would want someone to be her opposite when it comes to attitude and looks. Maybe Jenna Ortega would be a good fit or Isabela Merced.

I always thought that Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, White Lotus) was kind of the British Sydney Sweeney in terms of her reputation; and I would love for them to work together, but maybe that’s a different movie that isn’t Split Fiction.

For now, the Split Fiction movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but the game is currently playable for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
