Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney is probably best known for playing one kind of character, but anyone who follows her knows that she’s a hard worker and she tends to lean into artsier projects.
One incoming project has Sweeney playing the role of female boxing legend Christy Martin, and Sweeney had to bulk up a lot for the role. As it turns out, she gained a lot of weight over the course of a few months—and she also got ‘crazy strong.’
Talking to W Magazine, Sydney says that she had to undergo three and a half months of training to transform her body to look like Martin. She says, “My body was completely different… I didn’t fit in any of my clothes. I’m usually a size 23 in jeans, and I was wearing a size 27. My boobs got bigger. And my butt got huge. It was crazy! I was like, Oh my god.”
Despite the aesthetic changes, Sweeney also commends that she got some functional strength out of it. She continues, “But it was amazing: I was so strong, like crazy strong.”
For now, the biopic has already wrapped, but no title has been revealed yet. We don’t know exactly what to expect, but if you’re curious about Martin’s story, it is told via a Netflix documentary series called Untold Vol. 1: Deal with the Devil.
No release date has been set for the Christ Martin biopic, but hopefully we can expect it later this year.
