We recently found out Season 2 of Supergirl will be heading to Metropolis as Clark Kent enters the show. It doesn’t seem like this is a quick fly-by for the series, judging by a new set video showing Superman going up against a Kryptonite powered enemy. The video was originally posted on Twitter by @skysosmrt, and you can see it below.
It seems like Superman is taking on Metallo here, or at least a very similar character. The character has been both human and cyborg in the comics, but this looks like a human version. Given that Kal-El has shown up on the show, surely The CW will be able to add a few high profile villains.
We can be pretty certain that whoever Superman is up against, he’s packing some Kryptonite. You’d expect that’s going to be a big enemy the cousins from Krypton have to take down together.
One of the other interesting things seen in the video is the odd covering on Superman’s suit. That was also seen in a recent set photo. Spoiler TV posted a clearer image of Tyler Hoechlin with a little something extra on his suit.
Could that gadget be protecting him from the Kryptonite? Giving Superman, or Supergirl, a way around their biggest weakness would be a huge move by the show. The Man of Steel is being helped by whatever that device is, as he quite easily deals with the villain in front of him. While this version of the character is likely to be a lot more cheerful than the DCEU’s, he clearly has an angry side.
With no trailer for Supergirl Season 2, set videos like this keep fans going until the new season. This footage has given us a lot more faith in the Arrowverse version of the character, and we can’t wait to see the final result. It’ll likely appear in the Season 2 opener, which airs October 10.
