‘Stranger Things’ Season 2: Details on 3 New Characters

Netflix just confirmed a Stranger Things renewal, but creators Matt and Ross Duffer are already hard at work. The two teased new characters incoming for Season 2, and TVLine has unveiled details regarding three of them. While all are supposedly major players, one seems a bit more integral than the others.

“Max” is a “tough and confident” teenage girl, roughly 12-14 years of age. Her “appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” However, she won’t be traveling around like our four favorite D&D players. Instead of a bike, Max will get around on a skateboard. Bets on how long it takes Mike, Lucas, Will, and Dustin to rethink their transportation method once they see a girl skater?

What’s especially interesting about this girl’s debut, other than the “Mad Max” line in the teaser, is El’s questionable return. Could she be a replacement of sorts? Perhaps she too has powers of some kind.

Two other new characters will also be series regulars, one of which is Max’s big brother, Billy. He’s a “very muscular and hyper-confident” guy, who drives a Camaro — no doubt a jock. The other new character is “Roman:” a 30-something year old (male or female). “Roman” was horribly wronged in the past, suffering a loss early in life. Since then, revenge has been their top priority.

It’s possible these three aren’t directly part of the Hawkins community, since the fictional Indiana town isn’t Season 2’s sole setting. Perhaps they’re from an undisclosed elsewhere, and Roman’s revenge (Nicki Minaj reference) is unrelated to the characters we’re currently familiar with. If so, that calls their involvement into question.

The first run of Stranger Things left many unanswered questions on the table and countless more already raised. How and when will they address those? We can’t wait to find out.
