Satire may have taken over modern comedy, but there’s still room for some more sincere laughs with shows like Ted Lasso on Apple TV+. The series is expected to come back for one more season, but we do have a trailer for another series that pretty much wants to fill in that Lasso-shaped hole.
Check out Stick starring Owen Wilson and Marc Maron and its trailer down here:
Here’s the official description:
In “Stick,” Owen Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi (Peter Dager). “Stick” is a heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before.
Just like Ted Lasso took a look at professional football, Stick is going to be looking into the world of professional golf, and the series is going to be bringing in all kinds of golf superstars like Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Keegan Bradley, and more.
Other golf figures are also expected to make an appearance including broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, as well as enthusiast Dan Rapaport.
The series looks like it’s wholesome enough, and we know that Lightning McQueen himself can be pretty inspiring despite being a troubled athlete. I’m just excited to see Marc Maron on a series again; seeing that I missed him when GLOW on Netflix got cancelled.
Watch out for Stick when it premieres on Apple TV+ on June 4.
