Star Wars: The Mandalorian Set Under Investigation After Robbery

It seemed that everything was going along smoothly for Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, but the production has just recently caught itself in a snag. News has come out that some equipment have been stolen from the set and some footage has found itself in the wrong hands.

According to The Blast, the stolen goods were some expensive camera equipment as well as a memory card that could contain some footage of the show. It would probably be alright if the files on the memory card were backed up already, but if not, the production may have to conduct some unexpected reshoots.

Mandalorian was said to have been shooting on Manhattan Beach,  and it’s speculated that the robbery took place overnight when everything on set was dark. The police and Lucasfilm had already launched an investigation on the incident, and the camera crew was said to have been grilled extensively.

I’m just hopeful that they managed to recover all the footage and equipment; if not, we could be looking at a significant delay in production as well as some unwanted leaks. Though I love a look at the set, I wouldn’t want anything that comes from actually stealing from the production.

For now, nothing has been updated about The Mandalorian, and it looks like shooting is still business as usual. Hopefully this incident won’t interfere with the final product that we’ll get next year.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres sometime in 2019.
