The Star Wars TV show that’s on everyone’s radar now is Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian, but Lucasfilm is also at work with an upcoming series based on Rogue One’s Captain Cassian Andor. Thanks to That Hashtag Show, we have a new synopsis for the series, plus we have the timetable for the start and end of production.
As it turns out, the untitled Cassian Andor series will begin shooting his coming October with plans to end on June 17, 2020. Here’s the synopsis:
“The “Rogue One” prequel will unfold in the early years of the Rebellion and is described as a “rousing spy thriller.” Diego Luna will reprise his role as rebel spy Cassian Andor, the cocky daredevil who helped steal the Death Star plans in the hit 2016 movie. “
In Rogue One, Cassian had explained that he has been with the Rebellion since he was six years old, so there’s a lot of history to cover for the character before his eventual death on Scarif. Diego Luna is set to reprise the role of Cassian in the movie, but I’m hoping that we also get to see Alan Tudyk return as the reprogrammed imperial droid, K-2SO.
If I have any other things I want to see in the film, I would like some familiar characters to make guest appearances. I think Mon Mothma is a safe bet, but I would also like to see Saw Gerrera come back, maybe even a young Jyn Erso. How about some familiar planets like Coruscant and Correlia?
No release date has been set for the Cassian Andor series, but Star Wars: The Mandalorian is set to come out later this year.
