It’s no mystery that Star Wars: The Last Jedi was polarizing. One of the main sources of criticism was the character of Rose Tico played by Kelly Marie Tran. Rose’s arc with Finn is always referred to as the weakest point in the movie. Rose is also considered a hypocrite for stopping Finn’s sacrifice on Crait.

With all the hate on Rose online, some fans have actually been harassing Tran herself. Now the actress has just recently pulled out all of her Instagram posts after months of harassment from fans. The only thing left on Tran’s account is a black and white picture of herself with her bio reading:

“Afraid, but doing it anyway.”

Tran being forced to leave social media has sparked outrage within the Star Wars fanbase, and is having everyone questioning the toxic behavior of some its members. Besides Tran, Daisy Ridley had also left social media after all the harassment.

Solo star Alden Ehrenreich is also actively avoiding the haters by not having social media at all.

If we’re also counting the prequel stars, fans also bullied young Anakin Skywalker Jake Lloyd after The Phantom Menace.

Meanwhile, Hayden Christensen was forced to quit acting after all the backlash from his prequel work.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson also had this to say about everything:

On social media a few unhealthy people can cast a big shadow on the wall, but over the past 4 years I’ve met lots of real fellow SW fans. We like & dislike stuff but we do it with humor, love & respect. We’re the VAST majority, we’re having fun & doing just fine.

We don’t know if Tran will ever come back to social media after this, but there has been a lot of overwhelming love for her and her character ever since she left Instagram. Hopefully this puts a mirror in front of the more toxic Star Wars fans and will encourage them to try and think before they start harassing people online.
