The force is returning to stores around the world this September. According to starwars.com, Disney and Lucasfilm are planning Star Wars Force Friday II. Stores will open on Friday September 1, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. for an entire weekend celebration. At this global event, fans can shop toys, books, clothing, and collectibles from a new line of Star Wars: The Last Jedi products prior to the film’s December release.
In 2015, a variety of products from Star Wars: The Force Awakens were sold on the first Force Friday event. Fans lined up at stores well before the midnight openings, and their use of #ForceFriday dominated social media. Force Friday II hopes to gain the same attention and bring fans together to celebrate the upcoming installment to the Star Wars saga.
The 2017 event promises plenty of surprises for fans, especially in using technology in its new toys. A sample box was already revealed, giving a glimpse at Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron from the upcoming film. Jill Wilfert, LEGO’s vice president of global licensing and entertainment, commented that LEGO has plans to reveal new products during the event and hinted at interactive building opportunities. Hasbro is also gearing up for the event, according to Senior Vice President Samantha Lomow. She said in a statement quoted by EW, “the new line for The Last Jedi is our most innovative yet.”
Force Friday II promises to bring fans a wide range of goodies to add to their collections. This will create even more hype for the December 15, 2017 release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Disney’s Chairman of Consumer Products and Interactive Media, Jimmy Pitaro is keeping details under wraps. But fans can certainly anticipate this event to be an opportunity for the earliest access to brand new lines of products and a time for fans to unite and celebrate the Star Wars franchise.
