Yesterday saw details emerge online of an awesome-sounding fight scene apparently from Star Wars: Episode VIII. Now an even bigger nugget of info might have appeared – the actual title of the movie!
Now, once again, this could be your last chance to look away before spoiling something for yourself that you might regret later.
OK, have the fraidy cats gone? Good, then we can move on.
According to this Reddit video (via GamesRadar), someone apparently found the title on some signage in advance of the Star Wars Celebration Europe event coming to London this July 15th to 17th. Without further ado, the (possible) title of the movie is (potentially) … Star Wars: The Fall Of The Resistance. If you don’t believe us, here’s the video in question.
So what do we think? Truth or lie? It certainly sounds believable and suitably Star Wars-y. As some fans have pointed out, it would also hark back to the pattern of the titles in the original trilogy. These new movies are certainly big on nostalgia, as The Force Awakens‘ many nods to A New Hope showed us. On the other hand, this could just be one fat fib and that has no semblance of truth to it at all. It looks like we will have to wait until the event to get proper confirmation.
Star Wars: Episode VIII (whatever its title ends up being) will come to cinemas not so far away on December 15 2017. It will feature returning stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Mark Hamill and Adam Driver, as well as new cast members such as Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern. It will be directed by Looper‘s Rian Johnson. If next year is too long to wait for your Star Wars fix, the spin-off movie Rogue One arrives this December.
