Star Wars: Boba Fett Movie would have Included the Bounty Hunters from ESB

News had just come out yesterday that the Boba Fett movie was no longer in development, and one of the reasons could be because of Jon Favreau’s Mandalorian series. Now people are wondering about what the film could be about before it was cancelled.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie wasn’t about solely Boba Fett at all, and it would have featured the ensemble of bounty hunters that we meet in Empire Strikes Back. That group would have included Dengar, IG-88, Bossk, 4-LOM, and Zuckuss.

This is also just wishful thinking, but maybe they could have added the likes of Aurra Sing and Cad Bane in the movie. It may also be too much to ask, but I think it would be great if they included a young Tobias Beckett for continuity’s sake.

This movie was actually in development way before The Force Awakens even happened, and Josh Trank was set to direct the film. After the fiasco about his erratic behavior on the set of Fant4stic though, Lucasfilm had elected to fire him from the project.

Before the film was declared dead, it was said that Logan director James Mangold had been hired to write the film.

If there’s a silver lining thuogh, EW does say that the movie still has potential to happen down the line; it’s just been put in the backburner. If I were to pick a director about a film involving a bunch of seedy criminals, I hope Lucasfilm goes with Guy Ritchie. The guy is a seasoned director, and his more famous films have been all about criminals and elaborate heists.  I would love to have him go wild in a Star Wars film.

For now, catch Star Wars: The Mandalorian when it airs sometime next year.
