Wizard World Comic Con in Philadelphia played host to a plethora of Marvel superheroes and villains (okay, one and a half, if you count The Winter Soldier as a fraction) this weekend, dutifully sending fans into spasms over the Internet. One such came during the panel featuring Captain America actors Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie. When asked who they wanted to have join them in the upcoming massive ensemble Avengers: Infinity War, Stan joined multitudes of fans on the same wavelength stating it’s time the X-Men took their place alongside the Avengers.
Oh we would love nothing more, Sebastian.
While the likelihood of that ever happening seems bleak at best, Spider-Man eventually found his way home, and we never thought that would happen either. It does make us wonder how long 20th Century Fox can go on ignoring how amazingly brilliant an X-Men/Avengers crossover would be. Marvel execs and directors on both sides have often spoken of how they’d love nothing more than to be able to strike a deal to make it happen. C’mon Fox!
Meanwhile, Stan voted for Mystique to join up, while Evans named Michael Fassbender (Magneto) or James McAvoy (Professor X) because of the actors themselves. We feel ya, Chris. And never one to hold back on his celebrity crushes, Mackie named Halle Berry, in any role, in any guise. Can’t say we disagree with him either.
Wait, including Deadpool? Game over. That’s the best case scenario ever.
Meanwhile, fellow Avenger Chris Hemsworth was joined by his onscreen villanous brother Tom Hiddleston during their own panel at Wizard Con earlier in the day to discuss the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. Hemsworth is already confirmed for Infinity War, and should Loki survive Ragnarok, Hiddleston is also expected to join the cast though as a villain or quasi-hero, no one can say just yet.
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 begins filming this November and is due for release May 4, 2018.
