Alongside a plethora of other announcements, Marvel has revealed the official synopsis for Spider-Man: Homecoming during San Diego Comic-Con.

The news comes via Comic Book, and also states that Marvel has officially unveiled the film’s cast. What roles each cast member plays is being kept under wraps for now, apart from Tom Holland as Spider-Man, of course.

The official synopsis reads:

“A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging superhero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

As far as synopses go, it’s nothing spectacular. Especially since it doesn’t shed light on the film’s plot in any way. However, during their famous Hall H presentation Marvel did showcase an image of Spidey battling the Vulture, who was long rumoured to be the antagonist of the film.

Alongside this image, footage from the movie was shown to those in attendance at the panel. Comic Book describes it as follows:

“Bad Reputation plays, and shots of high school. “Every Story” then shots of Tony, Rhodey, each character in high school. “Every journey. Has a beginning.” Peter is walking through school, and a homecoming banner goes up. 9:30am Science. Peter’s looking at footage of himself taking Giant Man down. Flash Thompson is an Indian character. In Chemistry, Parker works on his web fluid on the side. A girl is playing F, M, K with Avengers. Liz thinks Spidey is hot. One of his other friends is trying to figure out what he’s hiding. Jump cuts of him running down a hallway zipping a hoodie over the costume, and climbing up a wall, and finally, he and the “Ganke type” doing a handshake. Then VULTURE comes down a tube, with crazy armor.

The cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming includes Tom Holland (In the Heart of the Sea), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman), Zendaya (K.C. Undercover), Donald Glover (The Martian, Community), Jacob Batalon (North Woods), Laura Harrier (One Life to Live), Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Tyne Daly (Cagney and Lacey), Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), with Marisa Tomei (My CousinVinny, The Wrestler), and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, The Avengers).

Weirdly enough, this lineup doesn’t include the recent addition of The Nice Guys shining star Angourie Rice.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to release on 7 July 2017
