Upon announcing the title for the upcoming solo Spider-Man film, Sony also unleashed the logo for said film–Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Typographically-speaking, this definitely feels like a throwback to classic Spider-Man comics, which in turn, really matches the youth of the character. Recent iterations of Spidey have been portrayed by grown men (albeit young looking ones). This time around Sony and Marvel cast 19-year-old Tom Holland whose adolescent looks and voice (not to mention his insane acrobatic skills) are a perfect match for the web slinger.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the first solo film for the character under the collaboration between Sony and Marvel (Walt Disney Co.), which is likely the inspiration for the title. The unprecedented deal states that while Sony maintains rights to all solo Spider-Man projects, the MCU is now able to include the character in all Avengers films. Holland’s Spider-Man will appear onscreen for the first time in Captain America: Civil War, in theaters May 6.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will release July 7, 2017.
