Sony might share Spider-Man with Marvel Studios, but the studio still wants to make do with the characters that they own. The studio’s even gone as far as to create a cinematic universe based solely on Spider-Man characters. Besides Venom, they were planning to release a Black Cat/Silver Sable team-up next year, but it looks like Silver & Black has ran into some trouble.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Silver & Black has been pulled from their February 2019 release date. What’s more, Sony didn’t even set a new release date for the film, so anyone who was looking forward to this movie shouldn’t hold their breath.

But there’s good news. Sony didn’t cancel the movie at all. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood is still onboard.

Rumor says the problem comes from the script. The production team just couldn’t fix the issues in time. This delayed the movie’s release date.

Fans applauded at Sony’s choice to share Spider-Man. However, everyone scoffed at the decision to make spin-off movies that may not be connected to Spider-Man at all.

Admittedly, the Venom movie does look interesting, but Sony can’t expect to keep that franchise going without Venom eventually clashing with his comic nemesis; much more for relatively unknowns like Silver Sable and Black Cat.

For now, Black & Silver has no release date.
