Sonic the Hedgehog was originally supposed to come out this November, but the terrible reception of the first trailer had forced Paramount to delay the film in order to give artists time to redesign the look. The amazing thing is, it looks like it’s paid off, and we have a new trailer showing off the more accurate look for Sonic the Hedgehog.
Check it out:
With this trailer coming out, I’m suddenly left wondering why the first one had to try and be more ‘realistic’ about the premise. Sonic the Hedgehog is a kids movie after all, and we get to see just how wacky Sonic can be with his powers, plus we get more Jim Carrey-esque antics from Dr. Robotnik.
I’m sure people will now be on board for the film, as the more cartoon look for Sonic helps drive the point home that this movie is meant to be wacky and for kids. Looking at the design that was first released, I can only imagine what the whole film would have looked like if they decided to keep to that design. How would the rest of Sonic’s friends look, like Tails or Knuckles?
Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is set to come out Valentines Day 2020.
