With the Disney/Fox deal still in undergoing finalization, it seems that Fox is going full steam with their X-Men/Fantastic Four properties. We know that they’re moving forward with X-Force and more X-Men films; now we have news that a movie based on Silver Surfer is in the works.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, comic creator Brian K. Vaughn is working on a Silver Surfer standalone project, and an executive says that the studio is going “100 miles per hour.” There’s also news about a Doctor Doom movie being developed, but there haven’t been many details revealed on the project.
Until the Disney/Fox deal closes, it looks like 20th Century Fox is still conducting ‘business as usual.’ I’m just hoping they would start collaborating with Marvel as early as now since if the MCU is where all their characters will fall, it seems like a futile gesture to try and rush as many movies as they can.
As for the Silver Surfer character, I thought he was brought to life amazingly well in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Sure, the movie was terrible, but watching the Surfer race with pre-Captain America Chris Evans onscreen was a pure delight.
No release date has been announced for the Silver Surfer movie.
